Daily log

Man, that was a good speech by Obama last night. From a political point of view and as a leadership point of view it hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately for Gingrich and Feaux News, the nail he hit was one in the conservative coffin. He had direction, Clintonesque cadence and uplifting message, and a firm and almost stern tone about responsibility, and he covered every base. Well crafted and well delivered. From a substance standpoint it would seem hard for anyone to be upset with the speech; that is, unless you just subjectively hate him, in which case, you're stuck. It is such a welcome relief from the dark days of yore.

And the "rebuttal" from Bobby Jindal? I will admit that I have never heard a speech by the guy and didn't know what to expect. It was bad. It was embarassingly bad. Where did they find this guy? Seriously. He wants to be president some day? He should be selling ShamWows on cable. I mean, really; his style was not of leadership, but of an infomercial. And this is just looking at his style. Bad style can be overcome by substance. Which is where he toppled off the cliff. He blathered on with down home stories and hammered home the Republican position steeped in ideology and absolutely out of sync with what the country needs, and, more importantly for the GOP, what the country wants. Now, that's okay if you're Mugabe or Chavez, or Bush, but in our republic the electorate will at some point pull their collective head out and toss you out. And you, Bobby, and your ilk have one foot out the door and are not helping your cause.
